Juxtapositions of art and the spoken word alter the perception and experience of both.

It is with great joy that I have once again been able to collaborate with Iranian-American poetess Bahareh Amidi, currently based in Washington D.C.

Bringing together her poem "Shedding Light" and my artwork "Heightened Awareness" we share a message with the world.

Today, finds me back in the UAE after almost three years. I am on a special journey - one which began when I decided to apply for the Ras Al Khaimah Fine Arts Festival 2022.

I have been preparing for this journey since I heard that two of my works had been selected for the festival. The festival begins next week and I will be sharing often on social media while on this visit to the UAE. In the mean time I would like to share with you a piece that I have written about this year’s special edition of the festival and my participation in it.

“The Journey” - read it here

Interconnected

Stephen Paré is a writer, a composer and a visual artist. A large part of his work is devoted to pieces that have both text and image, or both music and text.

Stephen is currently working on a book, and I look forward to it being published.

Stephen and I have been friends on Instagram for many years now, and I have always been inspired by our discussions. I was delighted when Stephen, @verbonnet, agreed to collaborate with me and write a text to accompany my piece, "Interconnected". I was thrilled when Stephen informed me that he would also write accompanying music.

Please take a few minutes to sit back and relax, and look at the artwork above whilst listening to Stephen reading "Marroni Caldi" (Roasted Chestnuts) set to music:

For the written text, see here.
